This is the vertical distance between the shade's rim & the attachment point. This measurement applies to both lamp & ceiling orientations. All sizes are fixed & cannot be adjusted. All measurements are subject to a manufacturing tolerance of 0.5cm. The larger shade in the listing photos (including the main image) is a 30cm size, while the smaller shade is a 20cm size. As sizing can be very deceptive, I always recommend physically measuring to determine the size you require. All sizes are shown in centimetres (cm). The reducer ring comes installed out of the box but can easily be removed or replaced as required. Reducer ring fitted (2.8cm diameter): British standard B22 & European E14 Reducer ring removed (4.2cm diameter): European E27 Not compatible with Harp / US Washer, Uno or Duplex style fittings. For bottom connecting lampshades select Lamp. This is to ensure the fabric is the correct way up. Lamps that hang the shade from the top downward require a ceiling orientation shade. Fabric Placement Many fabrics feature a pattern that is larger than the lampshade itself. Therefore, a specific section of the design will be chosen. This means each lampshade will have a unique fabric placement & may differ from the listing photos. Please see this listing's photos for a complete view of the fabric. Multiple orders of the same lampshade may not have identical pattern placement, but I will always try to ensure they complement each other. Fabric pattern size remains the same across each lampshade size. Larger lampshades will display more of the fabric pattern than the smaller lampshade sizes. Seam Due to the manufacturing process, each lampshade will have a single internal & external vertical seam. This is designed to be placed facing away from view.
