Solid Oak Herringbone Dining Table - Hand-Built in Nottinghamshire Building a table like this is a bit of an obsession, I build these tables with 20mm thick Solid European Oak Parquet, & hand make every oak parquet piece. Because solid oak is a natural material, it wants to move with the seasons. I've spent a lot of time refining how I brace & join these tops so they stay flat, tight, & true for decades, not just for the first six months. Every piece has an interlocking tongue & groove fixing for minimal movement. (The top is a chunky 40mm thickit feels as substantial as it looks.) Real Wood, Real Character. I celebrate the knots & the interesting grain patterns. I don't believe in hiding the history of the timber. This means your table is a one off nobody else will ever have one exactly like it. Built to be used: I finish these with a natural hardwearing hard wax oil. It will stand up to spills, sticky fingers, & the general chaos of family life. Solid Foundation: I pair these tops with heavy-duty X-style steel legs. They give that clean, industrial edge to the warmth of the wood.
