This handcrafted felted piece of art (felt picture) shows a poppy flower design. It is made with wool fibres using a traditional wet felting process & presented behind glass in a white box frame. This will make a beautiful accessory for your home, or an ideal special gift. The process of the wet felting technique creates wonderful unique artistic pictures, each one is subtly different & therefore unique. This listing is for a single felted picture presented behind glass in a boxed frame. FRAME is approx 17.5 x 12.5cm (7x5inches), Actual picture size is approx. 15 x 10cm (6x4inches) Wet felting is an ancient technique for binding wool fibres together. Wool fibres are laid out in layers, each layer in a different direction. Once a background colour has been built up then further layers & details are added using different textured wools until the picture is finished. The wool is then wetted & hand pressed until the fibres start to bind. Once the initial binding has taken place the entire picture is wrapped in a textured mat & rolled by hand until the fibres have completely bound together creating a felt fabric. We have taken every effort to capture the colour as accurately as possible but please be aware that colours on the screen can vary slightly.
