We have two styles of hooks, so providing us with photos of your mantle or hanging spot will help us recommend the correct hook. TAKE TWO PHOTOS, one from the front & one from the the end. Then we can direct you to the correct hook style.Also, there are types of mantles that our hooks don't work on. Thick mantles with rounded fronts & thick bullnose mantles do not work with either of our hooks. Also, if the top of the mantle is shallow, under 2 1/2 or 65 mm from the front edge to the back (wall), these hooks won't work for you either. These simply elegant recessed stocking hooks/holders/hangers are solid bronze & were designed & hand crafted by my husband Neil to hold Christmas Stockings correctly & securely. They are recommended for recessed front mantels, shelves & windowsills. Even though our hook is only half an ounce or 12 grams, it is tough & is designed to hold a lot of weight. We suggest that when you hang your empty stockings you ADD AT LEAST ONE POUND OR HALF A KILO of weight to them. The hanger will hold better as more weight is added to the stocking. Most stocking hooks hang frontwards, resulting in the loop of the stocking becoming twisted rather than hanging straight down. To remediate this problem, these hooks are turned to the side. A plastic sleeve was added to the top of the hook to prevent any marks or scratches to your mantel or furniture. Over time bronze darkens to the color we know as bronze. There are also slight differences in the patina of the bronze rod we buy, so slight variations in coloration may occur. We purchase plastic surgical tubing for our protective sleeves that may have sizing information printed on it. We rotate the printing to the bottom of the rod so that it won't show when hanging.
